TDA Young Carers'

A young carer is someone under 18 who helps look after someone in their family, or a friend, who is ill, disabled or misuses drugs or alcohol. There are about 700,000 young carers in the UK which is the equivalent of one in every twelve secondary aged students (carers.org).

As part of our commitment to meet the needs of all students we offer a weekly young carers group which is led by our dedicated team of Student Support Workers. Meetings are confidential and the school will only share information about young carers with professionals and agencies on a need to know basis in order to support pupils and their families.

TDA was awarded the bronze Young Carers in Schools award in September 2016 and we are now working towards the silver award. If you would like to speak to the Student Support Workers please use the following contact information;
