    If so, this is a fantastic opportunity for either an experienced leader or someone looking for their first leadership role. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, inspirational and can lead the ambitious RE department through all key stages. The successful candidate will be accountable for leading, managing and developing all aspects of educational provision within the subject and be able to take the department on their journey. The RE department is part of Humanities and is made up of one Subject Leader (advertised position) and 4 RE teachers.

    The Job

    We are looking for an experienced higher level teaching assistant to join us at Thomas Deacon Academy Juniors.

    The successful candidate would have the ability to provide teacher release working with the whole class, small groups and individuals. They would be able to support and aid the learning of pupils through clarifying and explaining instructions, ensuring the use of equipment and materials, and to provide continuous encouragement and motivation.  The candidate would also be required to lead a group of other teaching assistants within the phase of year one and two.  This would entail leading the appraisals and performance of those teaching assistants and providing support and advice to them as required.

     

    They would have good knowledge and understanding of the local and national learning strategies to enhance literacy and numeracy. In addition, they would be able to effectively manage pupil behaviour, in line with Academy policies.

    We are looking to appoint a Midday Assistant to join the established and friendly team working across TDET schools (Thomas Deacon Academy, Thomas Deacon Academy Juniors and Gladstone Primary Academy). The role involves supervising students (both primary and secondary) during the lunch time period in the refectory and Academy open spaces.  The successful candidate will be expected to manage student behaviour in line with Academy policies. These roles will require flexibility across sites, therefore, a clean UK driving license and own transport would be desirable.

     

    The Person

    Will:

    • Be able to work in a team as well as independently.
    • Be able to manage student behavior in line with Academy policies.
    • Have a firm but calm approach towards students.
    • Have previous experience of supervising children.
    • Be able to adapt to the school environment, whether working in primary or secondary.
