Working at the Thomas Deacon Academy

Trust, Discipline and Aspiration

Thomas Deacon Academy was one of the first Academies to be created and continues to thrive through our core values of Trust, Discipline and Aspiration. As we enter the exciting new phase of our future. We continue to offer an aspirational learning environment for students from the ages of 7 to 18 years old. Our modern facilities, TDA Junior, Sixth Form Study Centre and 43 acre campus allow us to provide the ultimate in educational choice.

Most recently, July 2015, Ofsted graded the Academy as ‘Good’ in all areas and we are moving forward in our continued journey towards ‘Outstanding’.

The Academy also saw a substantial increase in our examination results in August 2015 reflecting a three year upwards trend.

Thomas Deacon Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all applicants, staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Staff leading recruitment activities are all qualified in Safer Recruitment practices.  Shortlisted candidates must be willing to discuss their full employment history and their suitability for working with children at interview.  All appointed staff will be required to undertake and complete a full induction and child protection training.

At present we are recruiting for someone to work on a casual basis to cover periods of sickness or other leave as needed. From September 2017 the Juniors will be at full capacity with the new intake of year six pupils – at this time we are unable to foresee how many of our new pupils will use the After School Club, however we expect attendance to increase, at which point more regular hours may be offered.

Thomas Deacon Academy is founded on the principle that all learners are valued and all deserve to succeed. Learning is our core purpose and we have high aspirations for the young people in our care. Literacy and communication skills will feature strongly in an innovative, rich curriculum along with a focus on Science and Mathematics, allowing children to develop the skills, confidence and resilience that they need to become highly successful learners. We will provide a primary curriculum that will engage and innovate, with a strong emphasis on high standards and good behaviour.  We want all of our children to become confident, well rounded individuals who can excel in the next stage of their education.
