Thomas Deacon Academy is a registered Children's University learning destination and we have been delivering learning activities to our students for several years. Saturday schools are offered once a term resulting in six learning opportunities each academic year. We are currently have 70 children registered as learners and each year we host a welcome assembly in the junior Academy to introduce Children's University to our Y3 children meaning that these numbers will increase further. Once registered with CU children recieve a passport to learning and each time they attend a learning activity they can accumulate their learning hours to work towards the various CU Award levels, starting with the Bronze Award for 30 hours of CU Learning Activities up to a Gold Fellowship Award for 1,000 hours. The 30 hours Bronze Award can be awarded for one or more activities but after that you should have at least 5 hours of learning something new for the Silver level and then 10 hours of something new for your Gold and all other Awards over 100 hours. Take a look at the Children's University gallery to see what we have delivered over the last year.
