Teen hopes to win for her dad

Megan Wallington-Beddoe (14) found out she had been short listed for the national competition Miss Teen Princess, just days after her beloved dad died. And now the Thomas Deacon Academy pupil and self-confessed Daddy’s Girl, hopes that her father’s love and support can continue to inspire to greater things. Megan said: “He never found out I had got through, as the letter saying I had made it to the last 100 from 5,000 applicants arrived the day after his funeral. “He really encouraged me and told me to go for it hen I saw the advert in the local paper. “I have always been interested in modelling and photography and was so shocked to hear I had made it to the shortlist.” Megan’s mum, Mary, said her daughter had been a great help to her in caring for her poorly dad, David. Mary said: “David would have been so proud of her and I know he is here watching over her. She was his little princess. It’s been such a terrible time in the last few weeks but this news has given the family a real boost and given Megan something to aim for.” Among the fantastic prizes on offer in the competition, which is being filmed by a BBC documentary team, are an introduction to a top modelling agency Rage Models, and a host of grooming, beauty and clothing products from sponsors.

The finals are set to be held in London in August 2010, but Megan needs votes to make it through. Megan added: “All my friends at school have been really excited and have voted for me which is great.

“My dad was disabled and terminally ill but he always encouraged me to try and excel in all I do. I know that whatever the outcome
of this competition, he will always be so proud of me for following my dreams.”
