TEACHER OF PSYCHOLOGY AND SOCIOLOGY
For September 2013
This post may be offered as a one year, fixed-term contract or on a permanent basis.
Closing date: Monday 17 June 2013 at 12 noon

The Humanities College is looking to appoint a Teacher of Psychology and Sociology to join an established Social Sciences team.  Candidates should be able to demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for their subject, the ability to deliver consistently stimulating lessons to a highly-motivated student cohort, and a commitment to maximising achievement.  Psychology and Sociology are very popular subjects at Key Stage 5, so the ability to teach both subjects at A Level is essential.  Candidates who have the appropriate knowledge base but lack experience of teaching both subjects are also encouraged to apply, as support in both subjects is available within the department.

CASUAL CLEANERS AND CATERING ASSISTANTS
£6.60 per hour

We are seeking to build a bank of casual Cleaners and Catering Assistants who will provide cover for staff sickness and other absences as required.  Casual work means that the Academy is under no obligation to offer work and those offered work are under no obligation to accept it.

SUPPLY TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES

We are always looking to increase our ‘bank’ of teachers who will work directly for us on an as-and-when basis to cover sickness and planned absence. This may be for day-to-day or long-term supply work.  Whilst we happily welcome applicants from teachers of all subjects we are currently keen to receive applicants from teachers with experience of the following subjects.

Our Arts College are looking for supply teachers who have passion and energy for Dance and Drama
Our Humanities College are particularly interested in hearing from teachers with experience in RE & Economics
Our Science College are eager to see applicants from those with Health & Social Care
Our Communications College are looking for English teachers with the ability to teach all key stages

It is important to understand that alongside your specialism you may also be contacted to cover other subjects as and when required.  Supply work means that the Academy is under no obligation to offer work and those offered work are under no obligation to accept it.  Benefits to being on supply with the Academy include enhanced pay and the opportunity to take part in the CPD programmes.

Thomas Deacon Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The Academy will require the successful candidate to provide satisfactory references and undertake an Enhanced Disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
