Students
Although one of the smaller colleges numerically, the Maths College students hold their own in every respect and in some instances have clearly punched above their weight. Always keen to participate in sporting events our sports captains have little trouble drumming up support for inter-college events and the girls' performance in dodgeball is legendary! The pastoral support is strong and the college nurtures a friendly, supportive atmosphere for incoming students. As well as our sporting achievements where we have consistently performed above expectation, the students always organise a memorable ensemble for the annual battle of the bands. In 2010 they finished a very creditable second to the three time winners, Humanities College.
However, it is our enthusiasm and determination in the field of charity fund raising that has set maths college students apart from their peers. Approximately £3000 has been raised in two years for Cancer Research with students visiting the Cambridge Laboratory, where much of their work is undertaken, to see how the donation will be spent.
Increasing numbers of students from the Maths College have successfully applied for University or moved directly into the world of work. Many of these are related to the specialism including Accounting, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics to name a few. Others have gone on to read Law and English at Oxford or are studying for a professional chef's diploma at the prestigous Westminster Kings Way.
