Code of Conduct

Our Academy exists so that all members of our community can maximize achievement in a safe, purposeful learning environment; it provides us with a framework that enables us to put our values into practice in pursuit of the very best in teaching and learning. It is regularly reviewed and it applies to all students and staff.

Expectations

  • We should arrive at lessons on time, equipped and prepared for learning

  • We will treat other people, their ideas and their belongings with respect

  • We will value and care for our environment, both in our Academy and in the wider community

  • We will try to be the best we can be and will support those around us to achieve the best they possibly can

  • We recognise that we all benefit from our Academy's excellent reputation and we will work hard to maintain this

This Code of Conduct means that:

  • We recognise that we are all here to learn so we will behave to help others learn

  • We will be dressed smartly and appropriately

  • We will abide by the law

  • We will move around the Academy in a quiet and sensible way

  • We will follow appropriate Academy policies at all times

  • We will not be intoxicated, smoke or use prohibited drugs

  • We will not resort to violence

  • We will not swear or shout

  • We will not chew gum or drop litter

  • We will not use mobile devices in the classroom unless we are authorised to do so by a member of staff in the pursuit of learning. Around the Academy, use of mobile devices should not disturb the learning environment

And finally, this code of conduct applies to all of us, whenever we can be identified as a member of the Thomas Deacon Academy community - this may be when we are on or off site.
