Charity Coast to Coast Cycle Ride
Matt Ward was an inspirational teacher, a friend and a good man.
He worked at Thomas Deacon Academy, as well as being a great teacher he was heavily involved in after school clubs and especially the Duke of Edinburgh award. He regularly gave up his free time for his students. This was shown in 2010 when he took 14 year 12 students to Morocco for 2 weeks over Easter to complete their Gold Duke of Edinburgh.
Matt was also a keen runner and in 2010 completed the Great Eastern Run, however shortly after completing the half marathon he sadly died from a heart attack, leaving his wife and children behind.
Eight, Year 13 Students at the Thomas Deacon Academy who went with Matt to Morocco want to remember him and have decided that a coast to coast bike ride is a fitting way of doing so.
In July they are completing a 150 mile coast to coast bike ride in just 3 days. Along the way they hope to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and the Thomas Deacon Academy, Duke of Edinburgh's award.

Donations can also be made by sending cheques payable to the Thomas Deacon Academy to the above address. Please mark any cheques for the attention of Martin Byford-Rew.
